The government needs to ‘stamp down’ harder and make it the law to report child abuse

From attached article: a Home Office spokesman said ‘Child abuse is an evil crime and we are determined to stamp down on anyone who seeks to harm the most vulnerable members of society’.

The government needs to ‘stamp down’ harder and make it the law to report child abuse.

Please ask everyone to sign this very important petition.

Geoffrey Robinson MP’s letter to Editor of the Coventry Telegraph

See Geoffrey Robinson MP’s letter to Editor of the Coventry Telegraph, published today – Daniel Pelka review: ‘It is hard not to succumb to a feeling of despair’

Let us hope that the Coventry serious review team will render the country a service and come up with the kind of radical proposals that are so clearly needed – mandatory reporting based on new statute law is one point that we very much hope they will consider.

Please help keep up pressure by writing to Geoffrey Robinson and to your own MP.

And by spreading the word – we need as many signatures as possible, every person who signs our petition makes a difference.

Daniel’s Law

Daniel’s Law will make it a legal obligation for people working with children to report suspected child abuse; it will enable those in ‘regulated activities’ to take action to help children in distress without hesitation or fear of reprisal.

Every signature counts. Please do what you can to spread the word and encourage more people to sign.

In the papers today:

Lessons from the tortured life of Daniel Pelka

Such extreme cases of child abuse conform to a pattern that the safety net fails to catch.

Ten days ago the country luxuriated in images of idealised parenthood, as the cameras showed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge driving home with their newborn strapped safely into his car seat. Now, in a bleak counterpoint, we are presented with the opposite: two people who systematically starved and tormented a four-year-old out of existence. Daniel Pelka in his final months was a pitiful child, described before his death as a […]

We did it!

We did it! We just hit an amazing landmark 10,000 signatures for Downing Street.

Thank you to each and every person who has so far signed, supported and spread the word. Child abuse is a crime – reporting it is discretionary. We need mandatory reporting in the UK to help better protect vulnerable children.

This petition is going to Number 10 for Daniel’s Law. Please keep the numbers coming.

Special Thanks…

Special thanks today to FreeRadio Birmingham for the opportunity to comment on Daniel feature for broadcast Monday.

Every person who signs our petition takes us a step closer to a landmark 10,000 signatures for Daniel’s Law. We are very close to reaching this number – please help us get there. Keep spreading the word about the campaign.

UK law must change to require the mandatory reporting of child abuse. We will keep going for as long as it takes.

Other countries have such laws, why not the UK?

Today I spoke with an influential MP who has committed to sign our petition, this is a victory and I will share more news presently.

We simply cannot hope to better protect vulnerable children like Daniel Pelka without mandatory reporting of child abuse – without UK law requiring for adults to help children in distress. Other countries have such laws, why not the UK?

In the Independent today.

The tragic truth

“Daniel sadly was never once seen out playing on the street” said a neighbour in The Coventry Telegraph today.

Hitting the target

Please do everything you can to help make 10,000 signatures for Daniel’s Law this week, within two weeks of launch.

People assume it is the law in the UK to report child abuse – it’s not. The law needs to change.
